Ph.D. position in Göttingen / P7
At the Institute for Theoretical Physics of the Georg-August Universität Göttingen there is an opening for a Ph.D. position within project P7 “Cluster methods for spin systems” of the research unit FOR 1807 “Advanced Computational Methods for Strongly Correlated Quantum Systems” funded by the German Science Foundation.
The position will be starting January 1st, 2014. Its research focus will be the development respectively implementation of cluster algorithms for spin systems. We are seeking motivated students with excellent Master degree in condensed matter theory with a solid training in analytical many-body methods and the ability to code small to medium scale numerical projects.
The position will initially be paid according to ½ TLV-E13; a promotion to ⅔ TLV-E13 is possible after one year of successful work.
As the Ph.D. is embedded into the GAUSS/PROPHYS program of the Georg-August Universität Göttingen, the successful applicant has to comply with the rules and regulations of this program. See http://www.uni-goettingen.de/en/212922.html for more information.
To apply send a letter of motivation, curriculum vitae and the contact addresses of two referees (preferably via e-mail) to Prof. Dr. Thomas Pruschke, pruschke@theorie.physik.uni-goettingen.de, Institute for Theoretical Physics, Georg-August-Universität Göttingen, Friedrich-Hund-Platz 1, 37077 Göttingen, Germany.
